    • She helped in the many political campaigns of her brother, John Fitzgerald. After her mother, Eunice was considered the family’s model woman.

      In the early 1960’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver held a day camp at her home for people with mental retardation. She organized the First International Special Olympics Games , which were held in 1968 at Soldier Field in Chicago. More than 1,000 athletes from the US and Canada competed in track and field and aquatics. [1, 2]
